Two students honored at national chemical engineering conference
December 8, 2022 - by Kim Delker

Two students in the UNM Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering were honored recently at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers conference in Arizona in November.
Seniors Marian Olewine and Johanna Désirée Tsala Ebode, both working at the nanoscience and nanomedicine lab under professors Achraf Noureddine and Jeff Brinker, were awarded first and third place, respectively, in the poster competition in their first-ever participation at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Meeting.
Both students are also mentored Angelea Maestas-Olguin, a Ph.D. student and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering who was recently honored at the Rio Grande Symposium on Advanced Materials. The team is working on fabrication of novel nanotherapeutics for different cancers.
