UNM Engineering researchers win awards at annual HSC CTSC Bioventure event

Researchers from the School of Engineering won awards at the annual UNM Health Sciences Clinical and Translational Science Center Bioventure partnership event held this week.
Achraf Noureddine, a research assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, received the best pitch presentation award for technology filed within UNM Rainforest Innovations (“A novel approach for targeted delivery to specific adipocytes”) about nanoplatforms to treat obesity.
In addition, Marian Olewine, an alumnus of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering who worked in Noureddine’s lab and now is at the UNM College of Pharmacy, received people’s choice award for her presentation about her work with novel nanoparticles that advance treatment of ovarian cancer.
